On January 13, the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center VCPMC held a closing ceremony in Hanoi, announcing the results of its activities in 2020.

Musician Dinh Trung Can, Director of VCPMC said that achieving such results, the center has digitized all data with the best software; closely coordinate with international partners; successfully negotiated with platforms such as Spotify, YouTube, TikTok to control data.
“Every day, the music data played where, what song, for how long is saved. From there, we have a basis to collect royalties,” said musician Dinh Trung Can.
Commenting on the centers activities, musician Nguyen Van Chung author of the song "Mothers Diary" shared his memories of the beginning of his musical career: "VCPMC helped me get my first money. his song. The amount is small, but it rekindled in me the belief that I could live with my passion and be able to work professionally in music.”
“I learned that when the musician dies, the center still collects royalties for the next 50 years, the money will be left to the musicians family. I have complete peace of mind when I have a support center so that I can compose comfortably because each song is my property and brain," said musician Nguyen Van Chung.
Ms. Pham Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy Director of the Copyright Department Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism expressed her impression of what the center has achieved in the past year.
“In 2020, we are all going through hardships due to the pandemic, no one stands apart that disturbance. However, with the prompt adaptation, the application of scientific technology, the center has achieved certain results. Through the numbers that speak like more than 4,000 members, 150 billion VND in royalties, the center has been the leading bird in copyright protection for the past 19 years, proving the tireless efforts of the staff. central ministry and the cooperation of relevant units,” said Ms. Pham Thi Kim Oanh.

In 2020, VCPMC will continue to expand bilateral cooperation with copyright protection organizations around the world. Up to this point, VCPMC has signed bilateral contracts with 81 collective management organizations CMOs, the number of signed contracts increased by about 10% compared to 2019.
Despite the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, VCPMCs foreign income still grew strongly, up 82% compared to last year nearly 2 billion VND to more than 3.6 billion VND. due to the growth of the digital sector foreign institutions.
Up to now, the total number of members signing authorization contracts at VCPMC is 4,540 authors 276 authors in 2020.
